Reclining GranTrap™
GranTrap™ represents the best technology available for bullet
capture and containment. Utilizing granulate rubber material to stop incoming rounds,
the bullet impacts the soft media and is captured predominately intact, minimizing
airborne lead dust and averting backsplatter and ricochet. This provides a cleaner,
safer, and quieter environment for shooting ranges, and maximizes bullet recovery and
recycling processes.
GranTrap™ system safely de-energizes the bullets and captures them intact with virtually
no lead dust or bullet fragmentation. This allows shooters to advance downrange and
engage targets at extremely close distances, even at acute angles with no concern of
bullet backsplatter caused from bullets impacting GranTrap™.
Model 7500 Reclining GranTrap™ utilizes a thick layer of granulate rubber material called
GranTex™. The GranTex™ is supported by an inclined stepped structure and covered with a
self-healing rubber cover that allows penetration by projectiles while keeping shooting
debris and other contaminants out of the GranTex™.
|
In addition to its environmental advantages, Reclining GranTrap™ allows more efficient
reclamation of spent projectiles. Rear access doors in the support structure are conveniently
located behind the target region to allow for easy access to the primary collection area.
A secondary benefit realized by Reclining GranTrap™ is the elimination of noise associated
with bullet impact and deceleration on steel bullet traps. This is particularly important when
the range shares a common wall with other occupants of the building.
Reclining GranTrap™ was specifically designed with several important safety features. This primary
collection area, or target region, contains a larger volume of GranTex™ to absorb the rounds
and greatly extend the service time interval. To maintain a consistent depth of GranTex™ across
the trap, a supply bin provides a continuous replenishment. In addition, a supplemental bin,
also known as the “safety bin”, is located behind the primary supply bin and maintains ballistic
integrity of the trap.
When a significant amount of shooting will be conducted from walk-up distances, Model LE7500-OTR
Reclining GranTrap™ provides added coverage. An armour plate upper slope sheet extends from
the rear-side of the trap across the entire width of the trap to protect the ceiling, exhaust
ducts, and other protrusions that may be venerable to being hit.
The “footprint” of Reclining GranTrap™ is considerably smaller than that of steel traps, with a
depth of only 3.8m. This compares to almost 9.1m for a steel rifle trap offered by other
companies.
Reclining GranTrap™ is available for indoor or outdoor installation in standard eight, nine, and
twelve foot heights, as well as special-purpose versions including models capable of accommodating
rounds up to .50 calibre.

5000E Steel Rifle Trap
To support today’s advancements in law enforcement training, Meggitt offers the latest
generation of steel bullet trap, the 5000E steel rifle-rated trap. Constructed to set a new standard in
projectile containment, the 5000E surpasses competitors’ traps through unique features:
Designed for complete bullet containment: The 5000E is a completely dry, all steel scroll-style bullet trap.
All major seams are reinforced by a secondary steel barrier to minimize spatter and dust penetration. Side
walls are available in multiple thicknesses pending customer requirements. Impact plate thickness and width
are also variable according to customer needs.
Newly designed split scroll: The rear cover on the scroll is removable for inspection and cleaning, while
scroll parts can be replaced with the primary scroll structure still standing. This unique feature is
indispensable when access to the scroll interior is required. The side covers are also readily removable,
so that an overall check of the entire scroll section can be made quickly.
Raised and open-throat design: The entrance to the scroll is placed at the height where the majority of
the rounds hit, reducing dust generation and fragment deposition on the lower scroll plates. This translates
into a cleaner trap with reduced exterior maintenance. The open-throat design eliminates vertical supports
in the bullet path that could cause ricochet.
Replaceable primary plates: Most steel bullet traps use abrasion-resistant steel to reduce wear on the trap
plates. The 5000E features reversible main trap plates for extra service life. The plate system does not
contain exposed fasteners or cover plates which can cause splatter or ricochet.
Spent round retrieval: The 5000E comes standard with a bucket retrieval system that features one-handed
unlocking for quick bucket removal and replacement. Conveyor system is available as an option. Another
feature designed with the end user in mind, it reduces maintenance time to a minimum.
Self-supporting overtrap: The upper impact plates are fully supported by the lower trap structure, so that no
ceiling attachments are needed to support the plates. This means a quicker, cleaner installation, with no
worries about structural enhancements to support the trap in both indoor and outdoor installations.
Low cost. Every piece of the trap was optimized to use industry standard steel shapes, sizes, and processes
so that the customers’ overall cost is reduced without sacrificing safety or performance. The trap supports
are structural steel, not formed sheet, for long-lasting durability.

Rubber Lamella Bullet Trap
The Rubber Lamella bullet trap, Model LE3500, is primarily used in crime labs,
research and test facilities, and other low volume applications. It is also ideal for ranges that
have minimal available space because it requires only 36-inches of floor space and a ceiling
height of 9 feet.
The trap consists of a series of rubber strips (lamellas) suspended from an overhead frame.
Incoming rounds are de-energized and absorbed through friction within the hanging rubber lamellas
and drop to the floor of the trap. The LE3500 will accommodate handgun, rifle and submachine gun
ammunition with velocities up to 3500 fps.

Escalator Bullet Trap
The rifle and handgun escalator bullet traps from Meggitt Training Systems
offer low cost and low maintenance solutions for indoor and outdoor ranges using fixed firing lines.
The design of the impact plates direct bullets into a swirl chamber at the top of the trap for
final deceleration. The spent fragments collect in trays at the base of the trap for easy removal.
Models are available for use with handguns, shotguns, 9mm submachine guns and for ball ammunition
fired from high velocity rifles.

Venetian Blind Bullet Trap
The Venetian Blind handgun trap, Model LE2400, is designed for installations
where range space is minimal, as it requires only 30 inches of floor space. The trap is constructed
of a series of angled baffles that direct incoming rounds into a deceleration chamber. After their
energy is dissipated, the rounds drop into collection trays, accessible from the front of the trap,
for easy handling. The LE2400 is rated for all handgun, 9mm submachine gun, and shotgun ammunition.

Test Traps
Freestanding test traps incorporate the advance technology of the Reclining GranTrap™
granular rubber bullet trap. These modular versions are designed for routine use by firearms and ammunition
manufacturers, armourers, gunsmiths, and crime laboratories. They provide a clean and efficient method to
capture bullets without compromising environmental or personnel safeguards and are designed to accommodate
handgun, rifle, and shotgun ammunition.

Safe-N-Clear™ Clearing Trap
The Safe-N-Clear™ clearing trap provides a safe and secure method for checking a
firearm when loading or unloading. It is an ideal safety measure for police stations, firing ranges,
correctional facilities or any other location where firearms are handled. In the event of a discharge,
the round is captured and is securely contained inside the Safe-N-Clear™.

[Next Generation Wireless Target (XWT)][RTS-360™]
|
|
|
Next Generation Wireless Target (XWT)

Target retrieval systems are a standard feature in indoor ranges; however,
there is no reason to settle for standard training. Meggitt Training Systems
delivers the industry’s first wireless, 360° turning target retrieval system.
The XWT moves along the rail via an internal, variable speed, DC motor drive
system eliminating the need to replace frayed cables and to continually adjust
tension of cables and pulleys found on traditional target retrievers. This unique
design also eliminates stray lead fragments and casings from damaging the power source.
The XWT is operated via wireless communication through a user-friendly, touch-screen controller.
|

Meggitt Training Systems has also improved the rail system, utilizing one-piece construction
cold roll-formed steel track for increased durability, reduced maintenance and smoother operation.
XWT carrier onboard power system and internal drive system eliminates power bus bars, cables and
pulleys. An onboard, rechargeable, long-life lithium battery powers the carrier and automatically
returns home if power is low. Each time the target carrier reaches the “home” position, the
counter is reset and zeroed as well as docking the carrier for charging. The carrier prow is
made of AR500 steel and protects the rotating shaft of the target carrier system. The rail front
exposed surface of the carrier and rail hangers are able to withstand occasional direct impact
from most handgun ammunition. The XWT target carrier moves at approximately 2.4 metres per second
and stops within a tolerance of +/- 2cm.
Soft start/stop eliminates component shock and fatigue. Self-calibrating target head provides
precise, sharp turning action. The target can rotate 360o and expose either right or left face
in less than ½ of a second in either direction. The target carrier houses a protected target
illumination light fixture providing 100 lumens (max.) of adjustable light with the ability to
simulate muzzle flash. XWT rail system is one-piece construction, cold roll-formed steel for
added durability, smooth operation and reduced maintenance. Rail section and hangers are assembled
by bolted construction thus providing suspension hangers and anti-sway restraints to minimize
longitudinal and lateral movement of the rail.
Design eliminates obstructions such as light motors, drive belts, control boxes, etc. at the firing
line thus allowing for enhanced airflow circulation. No cross-member bar required; system can be
installed without the support of shooting stalls.
Touch screen controller wirelessly controls carrier’s operations via 802.15.4 communication protocol.
Places the target down range at any distance in feet, yards or meters giving shooters the ability to
move targets to any position on the track between the firing line and the last target line without
the use of signalling devices. Control commands such as face, edge, left and right turning with
one-touch operation. Shooters can also program static or looping courses of fire.

RTS-360™ Target System

RTS-360™ Target System is a dynamic turning target system designed
to improve live fire training through unpredictable, fast-action target presentation to
the shooter. RTS-360™ Target System can be programmed to randomly turn the target holder
to the left or right in increments up to 360 degrees or present a complete, unexpected
turn at the direction of programmable software. Each lane of targets can be programmed
to turn autonomously or simultaneously. This is a significant change from the standard
target retrieval systems with which trainees can anticipate target movement to the point
where training value deteriorates.
The aerodynamic design of the target carrier minimizes airflow resistance to optimize
the carrier’s smooth and accelerated movements. AR-500 armour plated ballistic guard
fastened to the front of the chassis protects the target carrier from stray rounds and
shields the optional on-board target light. The streamlined carrier is also easily
accessible for maintenance procedures.
An overhead steel track provides a stable platform for fast turning target presentation.
RTS-360™ Target System features the Omni-Stop element that permits the target carrier to
be positioned at virtually any location along the track. The range operator can select
the desired target position in one foot, one yard, or one meter increments and move the
target carrier to that location by entering key commands on the controller.

The on-board target light is a LED cluster that generates almost no heat, requires
very little operating power, and is resistant to vibration and shock failure. The LED
illuminates the target when exposed to the shooter and has a built-in dimmer that can
be adjusted from the individual control unit or master range control to vary the light
intensity.

Main Features:
- Precision target turning in 15 degree increments up to 360 degrees.

[RANGEMASTER 9000TM][Individual Control Unit][RangeMaster™ 10K]
|
|
|
RangeMaster™ 9000 (RM9K)
RangeMaster™ 9000 (RM9K) is a menu-driven, Windows
based system that controls targe try, security systems, ventilation,
and lighting. It allows instructors and range personnel to write and
store training scenarios that can be downloaded to an individual
control unit at the firing line or operated from a central control
booth.
Once a training program file has been entered and saved, it simply
takes a click of the mouse to retrieve the file and start the program.
Range control personnel are provided with a real time display of
target conditions on the range. When a target receives a command to
conceal, expose or edge, the icon responds by changing colour and its
location is shown on the screen in feet, yards, or meters relative to
the total length of the target lane.
The range operator can command all of the lanes or any combination of
them as required. You can even add and control pop-ups and tactical
target systems to the range. RM9K can also control a number of optional
range support systems such as range lighting, security systems and
ventilation when integrated into RM9K putting total control of the
range at the operator’s fingertips.

Individual Control Unit, Model EF5
Individual target control units located at each
firing position allow shooters to have independent control of their
lane. With just a few keystrokes, shooters can enter a sequence of
commands for the target system to perform.
The two-line LCD display prompts the shooter during program entry
for specific target distances, delay time, expose and conceal times
and also communicates operational messages such as target status during
program execution. When a target command requires a numeric entry a
prompt message appears on the display and the keypad automatically
switches to numeric mode. After the program has been entered the shooter
simply presses the Run button to execute the program.
If the shooter prefers to not enter a program and wants direct control
of target activities, the individual control unit can be switched into
direct mode. Target commands entered from the keypad will be performed
directly by the target system and will not be saved in the controller’s
memory. Most basic target commands are entered with a single keystroke
making the control unit simple to use.
The individual control unit is also capable of receiving, storing and
executing programs that have been developed and stored in RM9K. Once
downloaded, the shooter simply presses the Run button to start the program.

RangeMaster™ 10K
Model RM10K Meggitt Training Systems revolutionized range
operations by developing a range control system that allows range officers to
leave the control room while still retaining complete control of the range.
RangeMaster™10K control system combines touch screen technology and wireless
communication to give range officers unprecedented control from any location in
the range.

Handheld personal digital assistants (PDAs) and tablet personal computers provide
the portability to allow range operators full automation of the range while
interacting with the shooters at the line. With RangeMaster™10K, range operators
are no longer confined to a control room so more time can be devoted to firearms
instruction rather than range management.
RangeMaster™ 10K Touch screen controller is intuitive, easy to navigate, and
allows range personnel to operate their range by simply touching icons on the
display screen. The screen is segmented into three main parts: target commands
appear on the left side of the display, range layout is adjacent to this, and a
menu bar appears across the bottom of the display.
Controls for sending commands to the targets are clearly identified and are
similar in functionality to toolbars most Windows® users are familiar with.
Along with the standard target actuation commands of FRIEND – FOE – EDGE,
RangeMaster™ 10K can execute random target actuation when controlling the
RTS-360™ target system. This command instructs the target to present a complete,
unexpected turn to the left or right in increments up to 360 degrees.
RangeMaster™ 10K, Model RM10K
RangeMaster™ 10K allows you to create scenarios which consist of a set of target
movements for specified durations. Once created, the training scenario program can
be stored so it is accessible to run any time you need it.
RangeMaster™ 10K can also control a number of optional range support systems such
as range and target carrier lighting, and signal light security systems. The Emergency
Stop feature located on the home screen provides a quick and easy method for halting
all range operations with a single press of the button.
The range layout is depicted using a grid of targets and provides a real time display
of target conditions. Each target is identified by the lane number, distance location,
lighting indicators, signal lights, and control mode. The range operator can acquire or
release control of a lane by simply pressing the corresponding button on the touch screen
display. Releasing the target allows shooters to have independent control of their lane
using the individual control units located at each firing position.
RangeMaster™ 10K allows multiple devices to control the range at the same time. For example,
a range master could run a scenario on lanes 6 through 10 from RangeMaster™ 10K, while
another range instructor is positioned at the firing line and operating lanes 1 through 5
with RangeMaster™ 10K wireless tablet controller. In short, RangeMaster 10K allows range
masters unprecedented control over firing ranges through multiple wireless devices from
any location in the range.

we can provide a training environment that extends far beyond a simple shoot house. Meggitt
delivers an integrated training facility where the turnkey process is designed, managed and
delivered under the control of one vendor.

Ballistic containment and safety
5” thick walls create realistic shoot house dimensions and doorways similar to real world construction.

Ballistic rubber eliminates ricochet, splatter, bounce back, dust, etc. creating a cleaner and safer
shooting environment. Ballistic panels can be individually replaced anywhere in the wall in about 15 minutes
– no need to remove old adhesive or wait for new adhesive to cure.
Ballistic rubber panels are moulded to overlap at the seams eliminating gaps between panels that can expose
the AR plate behind the rubber. Our overlap¬ping seam construction provides continuous wall coverage without
gaps under all weather conditions.
No need to set up “block hot walls” for higher impact areas – our entire wall is a high impact shooting area.
Lead dust and bullet fragments are captured within the walls and can be removed via our patented bullet management
system. Every wall has a removable lower panel for bullet fragment clean out. No lead bulge or build up in the wall.
Fragments can be recycled.
Construction
Fixed or modular construction allows for large or small rooms, closets, hallways, alcoves, etc.
All SHOTT house walls are constructed of AR 500 rated steel panels for maximum safety and long-term durability.
Optional ballistic ceilings may be installed under the customer’s requirements.
